A lifelong globetrotter, Ileana Makri lets the beauty and stories capture her imagination, becoming a rich source that inspires her collection of unique and innovative designs.

Having followed her heart to study jewelry design at the Gemological Institute of America, Ileana opened Mageia, at first curation of the beautiful items that soon became the home of her signature “Ileana Makri” jewelry line. Her deep appreciation of all cultures, traditions, and lifestyles comes across throughout her work. In her hands, the mystical and the figurative become the starting point for jewelry that is timeless and uncompromisingly contemporary.

Exploring symbols that have transcended time and crossed cultural boundaries, Ileana imbues them with continued relevance and innovative aesthetics, for precious personal statements. Particularly fascinating to her is the “evil eye”, a symbol of protection against evil throughout the Mediterranean, which has become a precious signature of her brand.

In addition to her fine jewelry collection, she has launched EYE M, a playful and approachable fashion jewelry line that embodies her ethos of “jewelry for no special occasion.” Ileana lives in Athens, as do her daughters Myrto and Amalia who have joined their mother’s business.
