Danny Reinke

DANNY REINKE

»Working as a designer has taught me patience and persistence. For me personally, converting your own thoughts into cuts and designs is the highest estate of self-fulfillment.«

Danny Reinke

Founded in 2017, the Danny Reinke label stands for feminine, opulent and elegant fashion. With the use of drapery, elaborate corsets, tulle fabrics and complex patterns, the young German designer’s work can be seen somewhere between ready-to-wear and haute couture – an approach that the brand itself calls “prêt-à-couture.” For AW21, Danny Reinke is showing M.Ö.N.2.0, a collection inspired by the designer’s familial heritage combined with aspects of sustainability. Coming from a family of fishermen on the Baltic Sea, Reinke draws parallels between sustainable manufacturing in the fashion industry and gentle, sustainable fishing techniques. He incorporates colors inspired by the region’s natural palette – such as shades of yellow and blue – and uses wavelike shapes as well as embroidery that alludes to fish scales. Danny Reinke exclusively uses materials that are manufactured by hand at high quality standards. In 2014, the designer won the European Fashion Award for his graduate collection MÖN10.

Danny Reinke

A son of a fisherman, Danny was born in the north of Germany near the Baltic sea. Danny grew up fascinated with the sea and ships. Subtle elements in every collection reconstruct memories of early fishing. In 2009, Danny Reinke began a dual course of studies in fashion design and ladies’ tailoring at the FahModa Academy for Fashion and Design in Hanover. In 2012. He also attended the Kraków School of Art and Fashion Design. In 2013, Reinke finished his studies at the FahModa Academy where he is now a lecturer on design and technical drawing.

His designs ontrast sustainable production practices in the fashion industry with eco-friendly fishing methods to make a strong symbolic statement about the necessity of sustainability in our time. The garments themselves are all lovingly handmade from the highest quality materials in Reinke’s Berlin atelier, ensuring a responsible method of production that is critical to the message of sustainability that is so important to the brand
